About the Edinburgh Play Rangers
Edinburgh Play Rangers (EPR) is a collaboration across the City between four established organisations in the delivery of play services for children. Funded by Inspiring Scotland’s Go2Play fund, the collaboration began in March 2015 and was funded until March 2017. EPR provides outdoor free play opportunities in Bingham and Magdalene, Dumbiedykes, Leith, Pilton and Muirhouse.
Smart Play Network (SPN) leads the collaboration, delivering in Bingham and Magdalene and supporting the overall co-ordination of the Play Ranger services. Canongate Youth are a long established and reputable youth organisation operating in Dumbiedykes. The highly creative North Edinburgh Arts group will build on the previous Play Ranger pilot run by the Yard around Pilton and Muirhouse. YMCA Edinburgh runs an established Play Ranger service working with the children living in Cables Wynd House.
Each service, although operating individually and in their own locations, meet regularly to share ideas and challenges. This partnership approach gives us the ability to offer the best possible services to the communities we work in.
Our funding has been provided by the acclaimed Go2Play fund from Inspiring Scotland who has produced the excellent Play Ranger Toolkit. We have used many aspects of the toolkit so far and will continue to draw on its contents throughout the programme to March 2017. Click here for the Play Rangers Toolkit
The Collaborative has developed an Edinburgh Play Rangers Street Map to show where all the play ranger services are delivered across the city. Below are contact details and a link to websites for information on the other projects:
