Development Support Worker

(KICKSTART scheme)

Job Role

This exciting role will support our existing core team with the development of our online presence and with our primary focus of supporting our members to deliver play opportunities for children across Scotland.  The successful Kickstart placement will research and develop content for social media, videos and our online training courses, and will be given a variety of other administrative tasks.  The post holder will form part of our Training and Development team and support our Training Co-ordinator with the promotion, development and delivery of online courses that have previously been delivered face to face.  With such a focus on online activity, the post holder should be enthusiastic about different platforms for communication and keen to explore how our members and training attendees could engage with us more effectively and efficiently.  The role will also involve the co-ordination of bookings for training and exploring bespoke content that can be shared via social media to meet the needs of our different audiences.

 

The post holder will develop skills in relation to our sector and understand the day to day needs of a busy charity looking to further embrace the new online world.  They will learn how to develop and follow work plans with timescales, the creation of marketing, website and social media content and complete tasks to a high and consistent standard.  They will also learn how to evaluate effectively and its role in creating a sustainable and impactful service.

 

Ideally, the successful candidate will be tech savvy and be confident to suggest and challenge our existing offer.  They should be interested in working in a varied office environment (some home working required) with a team that are passionate about supporting play opportunities for children.   

 

The post is a six month fixed-term and requires a 3-month probationary period.

 

 

Essential skills, experience and qualifications

The candidate should have a good standard of high school exam grades which must include English to Higher level or equivalent. They would need to be excellent at written grammar with a good eye to proof read for sensibility and mistakes.   Good organisation skills will be key alongside the ability to manage time effectively, work to a task list and be self-motivated. 

 

As a large part of the role will be online development, the successful candidate should be proficient in using a variety of social media platforms and keen to further these types of skills.  Ideally, they will have experience using this personally or for an organisation.  Good interpersonal skills and confidence to engage with others is important with the flexibly to adapt and take on new challenges.
