PlayTalkRead Play Worker

Full Time Post

 

£20,400

Fixed Term to 31st March 2022. (potential for extension)

PlayTalkRead is a Scottish Government Early Years campaign aimed at promoting positive parenting in order to give children the best start in life and a strong platform for healthy growth, development and attainment.

Job Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Smart Play Network to join our PlayTalkRead Roadshow team!

We are seeking a fun and enthusiastic individual to be part of our play worker team to inspire and support parents and carers to interact with their babies and little ones through fun, simple and inexpensive activities. As a key member of the play worker team you will also be responsible for supporting the drivers our converted vehicles to and from locations across Scotland.

You will be passionate about making a positive impact on families and understand the importance of parent and child relationships. You will have a flexible approach to work and be confident and self-motivated with an upbeat, positive personality and be a strong team player.

Working away from home is an integral part of the role. As part of programme delivery some weekend work will be required, such as attendance at events.

Having the right mind-set, attitude and approach is as important for us as having the right experience and skills.

You may be offered the opportunity to learn to drive our fleet of large vehicles including: a double-decker bus, converted box van and sensory HGV Lorry (conditions apply). You will be expected to drive the project Van.

Candidates must be over 21 years old, have held a Category B UK driving licence for a minimum of 2 years and have their own car. If you would like to be considered for driver training to drive our larger vehicles you must be over 25 years old.

Senior Play Ranger

Part Time Post

 

£22,750 pro rata 

(12.50 per hour)

Fixed Term to 31st March 2022

Our Play Rangers team facilitate outdoor play in the Magdalene and Bingham communities in Edinburgh. We provide resources and ideas to create safe, playful spaces and support local children aged 5-13 to play outside in their own community.

This post is an excellent opportunity to make a difference to the lives of

young people in the areas of Bingham and Magdalene through the delivery

of outdoor play opportunities.

 

The post holder will deliver sessions alongside our Senior Play Ranger and Play Ranger for 13 hours per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This post is offered on a fixed term contract to 31st March 2022 with the potential for extension subject to funding.

Applications are sought from enthusiastic, experienced play / children’s

workers with relevant qualifications or experience in the field. A full UK

driving license is required for the post as you will be responsible for driving

the Play Ranger van. Please see the job description for full details.
