Programme Manager (PlayTalkRead)
35 hours a week
£27,000 Fixed Term
We seek a highly motivated, organised and responsive individual to join Smart Play Network as the Programme Manager for our PlayTalkRead project. This challenging but rewarding post includes overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the project, staff management, reporting to and liaising with the Scottish Government, budget management managing a fleet of vehicles and the general smooth running of the programme. Our ideal candidate would have a flexible approach to work, be enthusiastic and self-motivated with an upbeat and positive personality and be a great problem solver.
This post will average a 35 hours working week normally Monday to Friday but will require an element of flexibility, including occasional on-call responsibilities at the weekend, and is based in Edinburgh.
The post is fixed-term to March 2021 (subject to funding confirmation) and requires a 3-month probationary period.
Proven track record of project management
Previous experience of staff management
Strong communication / written and partnership building kills
Confidence in preparing and delivering presentations
A good understanding of Excel and Microsoft Office applications
Ability to act on own initiative
Critical thinker with the ability to make decisions under pressure
Budgeting and financial systems experience
Marketing and research skills
Excellent understanding of evaluation and monitoring
Experience of strategic planning
An innovate approach to service and project development
Excellent understanding of the impact of mobile outreach services
Flexibility to travel and the ability to drive
Highly organised and tenacious
Highly advantageous criteria
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Experience of managing mobile projects and mobile workers
Previous national campaign experience
Understanding of the benefits of play and early intervention in a child’s development and wellbeing
Knowledge and experience of the Play Sector and linked policy landscape
Good knowledge and understanding of vehicles and the challenges of managing a small fleet of large vehicles
